The neo-Italo-disco outlet for MC Spank Rock (Naeem Juwan), Mobroder -- the alias an obvious nod to Italian disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder -- arrived with a fictitious back story about a “no-jive-taking lady killer who brought his music to the top of the American Pop charts,” only to be dethroned by “copy-cats.” Mobroder, flanked by producers Sweet Meat and Sugar Balls, debuted on Scion Audio/Visual in 2010 with Rush (The Remixes), a five-track digital download including mixes from fellow travelers Nile Delta and In Flagranti, along with an Amanda Blank duet dubbed, fittingly enough, “Love Duet.” ~ Andy Kellman
