Sungazer (2018), the latest release from the Brazilian five-piece Mocho Diablo, is a plural record. Extrapolating the stoner genre from the previous release, Monochrome (2015), and overflowing into a visceral rock filled with fuzz, theremin experiments and lo-fi effects.
The emphasis is on the riffs, loud and heavy, no matter if driven by the guitar or bass. Brought together by a melodic line drenched in punk crudity.
What it hangs in the air, or rather the aura of the disc, is the garage rock vibe, a dynamism that makes the hearing organic, especially with the support of old valvulated amplifiers, which emphasizes the timbred fuzz of bass and guitars.
