Boston MC Moe Pope's career first took off in the early 2000s with Bay Area-based hip-hop band Crown City Rockers, which originally formed as Mission: in Boston. Aside from singles and 12"s, Pope only appeared on the group's first LP, One, in 2001, before he decided to return to Boston in order to look after his daughter. Back in his hometown, he started performing with rapper/producer Insight and his five-man outfit, Electric (formerly Electric Company). Along with members Anonymous and Raheem Jamal, Pope later broke off from Electric to form Project Move, who issued their debut album, Love Gone Wrong/Butterfly Theory, in 2006. As Electric/Project Move members went off to make solo records, Pope reunited with his former Crown City cohort Headnodic (who also produced for Project Move) for the 2008 collaborative project Megaphone. ~ Cyril Cordor, Rovi
