Ranging from chamber pop-informed indie rock to electronic-tinged singer/songwriter fare, Moke Hill was founded by Detroit natives Andrew Phillips and Ben Berry. The pair of songwriters, both multi-instrumentalists and vocalists, wrote the material from different cities (Phillips in Los Angeles and Berry in Chicago and Ann Arbor), then enlisted the help of a rotating cast of friends to fill out the band. Members include drummer Dash Hutton, bassist Tim Hutton, guitarist Ben Roche, and synth/percussion/auxiliary musician Chris Reynolds. This collaboration first resulted in a self-titled EP released in 2013 and was followed soon after by a full-length record on Los Angeles-based Dangerbird Records.
