Monica Lyrae

Monica Lyrae is a composer, singer and songwriter from Monterrey, Mexico. Her songs range from a very dark and intimate atmosphere to an epic cinematic style. Her lyrics explore the duality between a dreaming mind and reality. This can be sensed in her sound as well, which has a mixture of organic instruments and electronic sound design.

Her first step as an independent artist dates back to 2012, when she produced and recorded her EP 'Condemned to Dream'. A year later she began her studies at Berklee College of Music. Her passion for film and visual arts led her to earn a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring.
After years of growing as a composer, Monica felt the urge to go back to her own music. In 2019 she started to produce and record her first concept album Spirals. She worked in Psicofonía Studio with producer and engineer Charles A. Leal.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected the release plans for Spirals. It was decided to split the album into singles and they were released between 2020 and 2023. On 2023 she presented Spirals as a live show for the first time, and on November 22nd, 2024, Spirals was released as a concept album with one previously unreleased song that marks the conclusion of the Spirals era.
