Monroe X is the artist bursting out of your phone speakers and into the subwoofers of every pool party, club night and festival with his undeniable single "Skin Out', which is set to take over the summer
of 2023 and beyond.
Growing up predominantly in North London, Monroe's earliest musical memories are of watching videos by the likes of Michael Jackson and Chris Brown and devotedly attempting to recreate the
routines, riffs and runs. "I've got old home videos of me singing to Brian Mcknight "Back to One' and 'Thong Song' by Sisqo". Studying performing arts at City of Westminster college, Monroe worked
hard to afford to buy himself a home studio set-up, where he still records the majority of his own vocals. Often sketching his song ideas to piano, he describes his approach to songwriting as an
extension of his own memoirs, with the belief that "God has used me as a vessel for music, I've given up so much for this - family, friends, relationship...I don't think I'm meant to do anything else."
Monroe's sound is laced with dancehall cadences and infectious melodies with R&B conventions at its core. The undeniable quality of "Skin Out' is ushering in his signature style which is shaking up
the soundscape of the summer.
