Formed after the breakup of Choking Victim, Morning Glory is a New York City punk band founded by Ezra Kire. Initially a solo project, with Kire performing and recording the band's 2001 debut, This Is No Time ta Sleep, by himself, the band's early days found Kire continuing to explore the ska-punk sound of his previous band, a trend that continued on his follow-up EP, The Whole World Is Watching, in 2003. After the band's second release, Morning Glory became largely inactive as Kire focused his attention on his other band, Leftöver Crack, which he had formed with other members of Choking Victim in 2000. After parting ways with the punk outfit in 2009, Kire refocused his efforts on Morning Glory, evolving the band's sound on Poets Were My Heroes, which was released on Fat Wreck Chords in 2012. After bolstering the band's ranks with guitarists Adam Schrager and Shawn Gardiner, bassist "Metal" Chris, and drummer Early Gates, Morning Glory returned in 2014 with War Psalms, a more triumphant effort that found Kire and company maturing the band's sound. ~ Gregory Heaney, Rovi
