Mx Blouse is a South African alternative rapper whose sound shapeshifts between rap, R&B, and jazz-leaning experimental sonic worlds. With a genre-fluid approach and a lyrical voice honed through years of performance, experimentation with various sounds (including electronic dance music), and poetic inquiry; they have carved out a singular space and unique perspective. The artist has played on stages in France, Germany, and Switzerland, in addition to local platforms like Design Indaba Nightscapes, Smoking Dragon, and UMI by Feel Good. Their live sets, complete with a five-piece band, blend wordplay, improvisation, and groove, pulsating with the energy and intimacy of lived experience. Currently working on a new project, Mx Blouse is ushering in a new jazz-leaning sonic era—already tested and teased to acclaim in front of audiences at jazz venues, including The Athletic Club & Social (Cape Town) and Chiesa di Pazzo Lupi (Johannesburg). It’s a sound that reimagines the intersection of jazz, rap and post-genre expression.
