Incurably Introspective and neurotically inflamed, Naomi G is a singer/songwriter from Singapore navigating the space of Alternative Pop while pondering notions of mainstream thought. Mid-way through the universally familiar search for oneself, Naomi found her voice – and interestingly, the poetry and progressions that would bring it to life.
Rhythmically, Naomi’s tracks are coloured with downbeat mercurial Soul, blended with slick notes of Alt-R&B and glazed with ethereal Dream Pop. Acutely aware of Art’s on-and-on-again relationship with Reality, her music explores the roles of mental health & gender amid social, romantic, and existential tension.
Naomi G’s debut track, ‘Cage the Animal’ – a reflection of the inner trappings of an erstwhile relationship that sought to ‘tame’ her through coerced intimacy, prompted ‘Time Out (Singapore)’ to label her the “new dark pop princess on the horizon”. Her subsequent release, ‘Prey’, served as a muscular retort to the aforementioned experience – one that lamented the pain of objectification, and vied for greater tenure for women in love, life, and loss.
Naomi G describes her upcoming album as leaning towards Conscious R&B while expressing untimely messages of contemplation, contention, and cynicism with purposeful punctuality.
