Nazgûl was born in February 1997, originally under the name Ahriman, from the meeting of Zakrathor (drum and synths) and Thornset (strings ), and from their desire to combine their passion for fantasy themes, black metal and medieval music. In June ’98 Dominus Aprorum (screams) joined the band and the black metal trio entered the studio to record their first demo tape '' Omne est paratum ''.
In 2000 the band started recording '' De Expugnatione Elfmuth '', which was only released two years later in April 2002 due to problems within the record company. In the meantime, due to personal reasons, Dominus Aprorum leaves the band. Despite his absence for the recordings he appears on two tracks (Elficidium and Solvitur ad Elfmuth )
After the release of the first record, for professional reasons, Zakrathor and Thornset were forced to live in different places for a long time, but this circumstance did not stop the compositional process of the band for the second record. However in 2008, the duo temporary "froze” the Nazgûl project in hope of better times.
In 2020, and after recalling Dominus Aprorum to the court, the Nazgûl are preparing a new sound journey in the lands of Elfmorul.
