Neaptide

Neaptide was an indie rock band from the suburban enclaves of Atlanta. They blended the classic alternative rock sound with the cheeky, beachy, and playful indie aesthetic that came to dominate the latter half of the 2010s. The band formed in 2017, released a single EP the following year, and utterly milked it in the Atlanta DIY scene until the start of Covid.

The band’s original lineup consisted of PJ McFarlane on guitar, drums, and production, Connor Jones on guitar and vocals, and Matthew Hare on bass before expanding to include the impeccable Anthony Smith on drums, the incredible Avery “Whirlybird” Milner on guitar and vocals, and the magnificent Matt Mattson on guitar and co-production.

Neaptide and it’s sister band, Roseville, converged and subsequently dissolved into a looser collection of people who still make music together. Maybe someday they'll get around to releasing some of it.

To everyone who listened to Neaptide: thank you for your time. To everyone who came to our shows: thank you for your support. And to everyone who’s ever wondered “what does Neaptide even mean?”: a neap tide occurs during a quarter moon or three quarters moon, where there is the least amount of differentiation between high and low tide.
