Neon Lyra is a music project shaped by the contrasts in my life: South African by heart, Dutch by postcode, Actuary by day, Artist by night.

Through Neon Lyra, I explore themes like expatriation, queer love, emotional duality, feminine power, loneliness and the beauty of staying human in a digital world.

The vibe is pink planets in space, futuristic machines with feminine energy. It invites the listener/viewer into a world of thoughts on the future, space, philosophy and psychology.

The lyrics, emotional direction, sound and themes are mine. AI is only used as an instrument to bring my lyrics and melodies alive.

This year, the lyrics of “Glitter in the Hookah Smoke” placed second in the ISC 2025 International Songwriting Competition in the Lyrics Only category.

My first single, Trapped in Steel, has a futuristic, sci-fi inspired sound. It explores thoughts, emotions, loneliness, identity, and our future relationship with machines and AI.

When Funky Love was released in the summer of 2025, I explored a more playful space, with dance, party and rebel energy. It celebrates confidence, freedom, and the liberating feeling of being yourself.

Soft Places to Land takes a gentler turn. The song is softer, more relaxing and introspective, focusing on inner growth, rest, self-care, presence, nature, and learning to listen to your inner self.

Each Neon Lyra release has its own atmosphere, therefore the different cover art- choose one depending on what mood you are in!
