Ney Conceição, a self-taught musician, moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1996 after years of working in the local scene of the Amazon. In Rio, he has been participating as a session man on several records by noted Brazilian instrumentalists and singers. His role at the recording of the soundtrack for the film Amazonian Legends was acknowledged by the composer <a href="spotify:artist:2WFZ8Nkgao0Wf9LNztudDW">Sebastião Tapajós</a>, with whom Conceição performs regularly. Conceição toured Spain (from 1997 to 2000), Argentina (in 1999), and participated in the 2001 Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland). Having played in East Europe (Russia and Bulgaria) and Scandinavia (some cities in Norway and north of Germany), he also participated in the 1999 Latino Arts Festival at the Queens Theater, New York, NY. Conceição also participated at the percussion festival Party of the Rhythm in Aveiro (Portugal) with <a href="spotify:artist:2BCL9KUadO66KErNEE2Zpc">Robertinho Silva</a>, a musician with whom he has also shared a CD. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
