Nic Preen

Nic Preen is a musician and songwriter who hails from Cape Town, South Africa. He started playing music at a young age and quickly developed a passion for it, joining several bands and performing at local venues, most notably gaining popularity in the band Al Bairre, one of South Africa’s biggest Indie-Pop exports. In 2016, he co-founded the band The World Of Birds, which quickly gained a following and became a staple of the Cape Town music scene, a band in which he still resides as a singer and frontman with music set to be released in 2023.
After years of touring and recording with the band, Nic made the bold decision to move to London, in his time working between Cape Town and London he has devoted some of his songwriting to this personal project.
Nic is inspired by the likes of Paul Simon, Paul McCartney and George Michael, the latter being the source of inspiration for his latest track; 'Jitterbug'. An autobiographical ode to the day he heard of his idols passing and the remorse felt whilst listening to the singers discography. The song was written with long time collaborators Conor and Ben McCarthy of Nic's band The World Of Birds, as well as featuring friends Mfield and Ross Dorkin of the band Beatenberg, another source of inspiration for Nic.
When not making music Nic is a surfer, and film-documentarian, founding the production company supaa.net, which focuses on creative music stories from around the globe.
