London-based singer, Nikita Bassi, released her debut EP ‘Satin’ in 2019. The alluring body of work, produced by Cores (Solange, Emelie Sande, Gorgon City), received critical acclaim from the likes of Clash, Flaunt, Mixmag, and Rolling Stone, and was supported by BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC Introducing plus BBC London radio and BBC Asian Network. Influenced by her family’s varied musical tastes from Julie London to Massive Attack to Terence Trent D’Arby, Nikita's introductory EP connected her with her Punjabi roots on a deeper level.
When writing music, Nikita is driven to explore a concoction of textures, chords and poetry. She grew up near Birmingham and later moved to London to study music. Her grandmother, who continues to write and star in Hindi movies aged 80, has been a huge influence, always reminding Nikita to find solace in her love of music and creating.
