Nomadic is the creative expression of Josh Waay, an electronic music artist originally from Amsterdam, who spent half his life in the alternative beach-town community of Golden Bay, New Zealand.
A childhood of travel, an early love of music and being immersed in the region's vibrant festival scene, he developed a passion for electronic music and DJ culture. He began crafting his own dance tunes and performing live at local festivals, where the positive response drove him back to Amsterdam to study music production, where Nomadic took shape over many years of refining his own unique process.
His sound fuses world music with bass-heavy beats, though it continues to evolve, refusing to be confined by any one genre. His songs invite listeners on a surreal journey, blending traditional live instruments with contemporary sound design, to create music that feels organic, mystical and otherworldly. He draws inspiration from the landscapes of New Zealand, ancient tribal cultures, and the psychedelic, introspective experiences he's had across his life.
His debut album 'Wandering Mind', released through US-based label Jumpsuit Records, built an international following and elevated both his DJ and live sets to a new level. He has since collaborated with renowned artists such as Ayla Nereo, Skysia, Scott Nice and Yemanjo.
