Born in Portsmouth, England, Oakley Crosswell spent his youth in the coastal town of Gosport. His father brought his first guitar at the age of 9, Oakley immediately discovered escapism in songwriting. With honest lyrics that show genuine vulnerability his music slots justly into the Indie-Folk genre. His songs spin tales of his youth and capture a sense of place. With a husky tone, his sound encourages listeners on a journey “through the woods”. The singer-songwriter is set for a bright future at the age of 22 he is still a new presence within the Acoustic-Folk scene. His lyrics sculpt a clear picture in the listener's mind drawing from nostalgia and subtle imagery through eloquent wordplay. Oakley draws inspiration from artists such as “Gregory Alan Isakov” and “Ben Howard” who also started their careers as hometown strangers but then blossomed into competent and respected wordsmiths within the genre of acoustic Folk/Indie-folk.
