The band was founded in 1994 by Count Imperium and Cerberus It was only in early 1996 that the band found drummer Lord Fausto.
In June 1996, Rehersal was launched entitled "Eternus Malus". Six months later the band released their first Official Demo-Tape entitled "Regnus Ad Exus".
This release consolidated Ocultan as being the first Black Metal band in the world to address themes related to “Quimbanda” in their lyrics, which until then was a totally unknown cult.
