O.E. (E is pronounced as long E, like "O.E.”) is a side project of Japanese electronic music producer Tatsuya Oe. He launched this project to pursue creative freedom and experimentation beyond the musical scope of his other projects, such as Captain Funk and Dark Model. Compared to those main projects' distinctive groove-based sound characters, O.E. leaves some room to try a wide range of music styles while distancing himself from music formalism. Sometimes it may be categorized as contemporary classical, sometimes ambient electronica, or post-rock.
Since 2002, under this moniker, Tatsuya has produced not only original albums like "Here and You," "Physical Fiction," and "Director's Cut," but also numerous remixes and collaboration works such as "ONJQ+OE (a project with Yoshihide Otomo)."
In addition to releasing original albums, Oe opened for Kraftwerk, Holger Czukay (ex. Can), and David Bowie (as Groove Syndicate) in their Japan tours.
His music has been featured in numerous media projects, from box office film trailers like "Elysium," "The Paperboy," and "Money Monster," to advertising campaigns for Lexus, Verizon "Droid," Xbox "Forza Motorsport 5", T.V. programs such as "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee," "Switched at Birth," and "Younger."
