After a brief studio hiatus, Chicago's Old Coke are back with their latest release, "Blood Orange"
Since the band’s 2022 breakout EP , Sorted, Old Coke has gained underground momentum sharing shows with many prominent scene bands in their city.
While their fan base and short tour gained traction, the need to record new music started mounting. "Blood Orange" sees Old Coke return with a refreshed and 1st time, four-piece line up. Self recorded at the band members homes with help from their longtime drum studio engineer, Joe Gac (Meat Wave) along with mixing from Adam Stilson and Nick Townsend on mastering. The result ends up with a dynamic wall of sound that reminisces of early and late 90's production techniques.
Kevin Levonyak has joined the band on drums, continuing the drum and guitar driven approach of the previous releases. Kevin Rivas has joined on bass providing a powerful bass perspective panning from a few different genres throughout hardcore and metal, and Ethan Vvirurly has joined on lead guitar after holding things down on bass and guitar live throughout the band's line up transition.
This new EP includes playing from all new members and spans throughout the modern shoegaze sound, bringing elements of noise, alternative, indie, and at times, pop.
Blood Orange finds the band moving in a more structured approach to songwriting with more melodic hooks than previous material while maintaining the grit and noise initially established on their first two releases.
