No doubt inspired by his initial ousting from Swedish speed-deathsters the Crown to make way for At the Gates legend Tomas Lindberg, only to be sheepishly asked back to sing on their final album, vocalist Johan Lindstrand vented his frustrations with a new project aptly named One Man Army and the Undead Quartet (not to be confused with San Francisco punk rock band One Man Army). Joining forces with guitarist/bassist Valle Adzic (his partner in another band named Impious) and lead guitarist Mikael Lagerblad, Lindstrand recorded a six-song demo that led to interest from Nuclear Blast Records. A contract was duly signed and rhythm guitarist Pekka Kiviaho and drummer Marek Dobrowolski were then added to the lineup as sessions began for the band's debut album, 21st Century Killing Machine, released in 2006 and boasting a very appetizing mix of modern death and thrash metal. New bassist Robert Axelsson was tapped to replace a departing Adzic shortly thereafter. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
