The Danish black metal band ORM returns with its fourth album GULD, marking yet another important step in their musical development, building on their characteristic epic and progressive approach to black metal – this time in a more direct and intensified format with five shorter and more concise compositions.
ORM was formed in 2015 and released its self-titled debut album in 2017, introducing the band’s melodic and ambitious approach to black metal. On their second album Ir from 2019 and its successor Intet • Altet from 2022, ORM expanded their musical palette with long, epic works and a deep thematic foundation rooted in mythology, folklore and existential narratives. With GULD, the band once again takes a step toward a more riff-driven and aggressive expression, without abandoning the emotional and yearning atmospheres that have made them one of the most acclaimed names on the Danish metal scene.
Thematically, GULD explores modern humanity’s self-destructive cultivation of negative emotions – a vain and manipulated pursuit of perfection and recognition that leads to fear, isolation and downfall. With GULD, ORM once again demonstrates their ability to combine extreme music with deep thematic layers and artistic ambition – cementing their position as one of Europe’s most visionary black metal bands.
