Oystre

Hi there, we’re Oystre (/ˈoistər/), a band from Bandung, Indonesia. We chose the name because it feels… fitting.

Like our name suggests, we’re a bit of an enigma—sometimes we’re out there, chasing the souls of music lovers stuck in the golden days of the ‘90s and 2000s. Other times, we retreat, letting the vast universe inspire us in quiet moments. For us, the world is the greatest work of art, and music is how we try to communicate with everything cool within it.

We don’t box ourselves into genres; we simply make music. We don’t play by genres; we just play music. It’s a reflection of everything we’ve loved about sound, shaped by the songs that stayed with us since we first picked up our instruments. Each of our songs is its own little world, shaped by the sounds that have stayed with us over the years.

So far, we’ve released any singles—each distinct, each with its own artwork. No albums, no EPs. Just one song at a time, like breadcrumbs on a path we’re still figuring out ourselves.

Maybe that’s why people say our music surprises them—it’s not trying to be predictable. One moment, you’re riding the energy; the next, you’re somewhere reflective and introspective. We like it that way.
