Paranormal Attack is the groundbreaking project of Rui Oliveira, aka DJ Xangaii – one of the most innovative Portuguese artists in global electronic music. His passion began early with keyboards at 8 and guitar at 12, later joining a cover band where he spent seven years performing live across Portugal. At 19, he discovered psytrance and began producing his own tracks. By 2003, Paranormal Attack had gained recognition, leading him to leave the band and tour the world as a solo artist.
A turning point came when his idol Skazi invited him to join Shaffel Records, later Chemical Crew, marking the start of a 24-year friendship. In 2006, Xangaii released his debut album Phenomenon – a genre-blending milestone with anthems like Be With You (15M+ plays) and The Pill. He later collaborated with Brazilian rock legends Charlie Brown Jr., performed at Rolling Stone Brazil’s anniversary, and in 2015 launched his own label Fxxk Tomorrow for full creative freedom.
Highlights include a remix of Infected Mushroom’s Saeed with Skazi (5M plays) and Novelists’ Lost Cause (1.5M plays). In 2022, seeking balance, he moved to Florianópolis, sparking new collaborations with DJ Vegas. That year he also celebrated 20 years of Paranormal Attack with a historic Rock in Rio Brazil performance. In 2025, his viral Universo Paralello set surpassed 520K views.
