Parris

Parris produces restrained, bass-heavy electronic music orbiting the fringes of dubstep, grime, and techno. A renowned DJ and owner of the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Soundman+Chronicles%22">Soundman Chronicles</a> label, he began releasing tracks during the middle of the 2010s, receiving acclaim for releases such as 2017 EP Your Kiss Is Sour.

Born in London, Dwayne Parris-Robinson started following the dubstep scene around 2007, and began regularly attended pioneering dubstep club night FWD>> by the beginning of 2010. Inspired by early <a href="spotify:artist:53KwLdlmrlCelAZMaLVZqU">James Blake</a> material and releases on labels like <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Hemlock%22">Hemlock</a> and <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Hessle+Audio%22">Hessle Audio</a>, he began producing his own brand of spacious, experimental bass music soon afterwards, in addition to working at London record shop BM Soho. As a DJ, he played gigs with <a href="spotify:artist:09S8AYFuaa9PQKSNsXxweW">Pinch</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1XZzbCZRuj6eOdRxQcmiD7">Zed Bias</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:5d4kdwU7uEHb51W4JIV70e">L.V.</a>, and other crucial figures of the dubstep and U.K. garage scenes. Parris' label, <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Soundman+Chronicles%22">Soundman Chronicles</a>, launched in 2013. Caught/Collide, a collaboration with <a href="spotify:artist:4521qGQWk4pQU8lvGgjNUx">Wen</a>, was released by dubstep label <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Tempa%22">Tempa</a> in 2014, and his first solo release, Burr, appeared on <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Idle+Hands%22">Idle Hands</a> in 2016. The aptly named Skeletal followed on Ancient Monarchy, and a remix EP was issued at the end of the year. Releases for <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Hemlock%22">Hemlock</a> (Your Kiss Is Sour) and <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22The+Trilogy+Tapes%22">The Trilogy Tapes</a> (2 Vultures) helped raise Parris' profile in 2017, the year he relocated to Bristol.
