Born in South Carolina and now based between Nashville and London, Parson James creates music rooted in contrast, gospel and EDM, soul and euphoria, struggle and resilience. As a queer, biracial artist raised in the conservative South, his perspective deeply informs his work, crafting songs that feel both personal and universal. Best known for co-writing and performing on Kygo’s global smash “Stole The Show,” which has surpassed 1 billion streams and earned multi-platinum certifications worldwide, Parson has amassed over 1.2 billion total streams to date, establishing himself as a distinctive voice in modern pop and dance music. In January 2025, he returns with “Water Me,” a raw, intimate release about burnout, vulnerability, and learning to ask for support, drawing from gospel roots, soulful balladry, and country warmth, and featuring background vocals from longtime friend Joanna “JoJo” Levesque. Beyond his own releases, Parson has toured globally with Kygo and collaborated with artists including Sam Feldt, The Knocks, Vandelux, Said the Sky, Audien, CAZZETTE, Hook N Sling, and Big Gigantic. A dedicated advocate for queer youth, mental health, and HIV/AIDS awareness, he works with organizations like The Trevor Project, GLAAD, LoveLoud, and amfAR, continuing to create music that invites listeners to feel, heal, and grow.
