Passive Aggressives Anonymous has been described as chamber pop or "croon-rock". PAA was initially conceived in 2012 as a solo venture led by John Valenti (vocals, guitar), and later grew to include Evan Wormwood (drums), Reilly Taylor-Cook (upright bass), John Delmonico (cello), Chris Coon (keyboards), and Elena Ryck (violin). The band is based in Rochester, NY.
"Passive Aggressives Anonymous...doles out orchestral folk-pop with a wink and a middle finger. 'Middle Class Male Cry', its Tiny Desk Contest entry, is a glorious modern folk send-up, replete with swelling strings and a wordless "ba-ba-ba" hook that signifies anthemic verve — without really saying anything." -Joshua Bote, NPR All Songs Considered
"For Passive Aggressives Anonymous...a band whose call to glory is their expertly-arranged romantic lounge style of instrumentation, that 'something extra' comes in the form of frontman John Valenti's tongue-in-cheek vocal delivery, which remains unabashedly intact on [The Mauve Album]." -Ronald Walczyk, BUFFABLOG
"Singing songs laden with good intentions and self-involvement alike, Valenti is both sensitive and cynical; self-effacing but utterly unapologetic; tongue-in-cheek but completely earnest." -Daniel J. Kushner, Rochester CITY Newspaper
