Pat Carroll is a composer and producer with a background in electroacoustic music composition. He holds a PhD in electro-acoustic composition from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and works across electronic, ambient, and experimental styles. His approach explores contemporary electronic production informed by electroacoustic and art music traditions and the formal sensitivity of classical music.
Carroll’s practice emerged through electronic dance music, initially releasing groove-driven house under the name Piecey before shifting towards darker, cinematic and techno-leaning forms. His current work balances detailed sound design, and draws on synthesisers, modular systems, and advanced signal processing.
His work has received support from platforms including Mixmag and DJ Mag. As a live artist, Carroll has performed across Australia and shared stages with artists such as Willaris. K and Octave One.
Alongside his solo practice, Carroll is an active collaborator, producer, and engineer, releasing music through a range of labels and his own imprint, Occupancy. He also works under the alias Bounty Hill and is a lecturer and researcher focused on music, culture, and technologically mediated creativity.
