Pat Satchmo was originally discovered in Jamaica by legendary producer LEE “SCRATCH” PERRY, who was instrumental in jump-starting BOB MARLEY’S career. He recorded a reggae version of “Hello Dolly,” for PERRY on the “UPSETTERS” label. As this was done in a LOUIS ARMSTRONG (SATCHMO) pretense the name Pat “Satchmo” stuck. The record received an extensive amount of airplay and became a hit for Pat, which led to numerous live appearances in all major venues in Jamaica.

Pat’s second trip into the studio was to record “MAKE IT WITH YOU” for producer DERRICK HARRIOTT. Two versions of the song were cut. The first was a slow version with INNER CIRCLE playing the music, and MARCIA GRIFFITHS (of BOB MARLEY’S I-THREES), DERRICK HARRIOTT, and BUNNY BROWN on back-up vocals. The second was a reggae version featuring PETER TOSH (of THE WAILERS) playing harmonica and BUNNY BROWN singing harmony. This recording received tremendous airplay, shaking off the old “Satchmo Voice”, of his previous hit. The release led to more personal appearances, including one for Jamaica’s former Prime Minister MICHAEL MANLEY at his residence, JAMAICA HOUSE, as well as a role in the movie, “THE HARDER THEY COME,” starring JIMMY CLIFF. With his popularity growing, Pat decided to take his talent abroad.

Pat Satchmo continues to record and release music. He is currently a member of his son PAUL ANTHONY'S Reggae/Dancehall Band "PAUL ANTHONY & THE REGGAE SOULJAHS"
