Irish singer-songwriter Paul Caldwell has the ability to seamlessly blend the soul of traditional Irish ballads with the nuance of Canadian folk. He grew up with Celtic music echoing through the rugged coastline in his hometown of Buncrana, and these traditional Irish tunes have reverberated deep into his soul. Caldwell spent a period of his life in Liverpool, before settling in Vancouver when he was 25. Although he feels a strong bond with Canada, he always carries a piece of Ireland and a piece of Liverpool with him.
His latest EP ‘<a href="spotify:album:3YFx0lIhdIEQ8323HoMfMa" data-name="Headlines">Headlines</a>’ was released in 2022 and produced by Jeff Zipp of Light Machine Records. A deeply emotional record, evoking nostalgia, heartache and hope. Based on the 7 stages of grief, Paul carefully crafted this album through his experience of pain and healing. Each song is derived from processing each stage and reflecting on Paul's own personal experiences with those emotions.Each song surfaces another emotion, guided through sentimental lyrics. Paul is a unique storyteller, and this album is full of perfectly crafted moments with the intention of stirring up feelings. The EP has amassed an impressive 420,000 streams and received radio spots on CBC and Dublin City FM.
On May 3rd, 2023, Paul will be releasing his new single “Love Remains”. A beautifully crafted, 80's synth infused soft rock song. It tells the story of a past love and of a love for one’s self, of a love lost, but also of a love that always is and always needs to be.
