Whether fronting her main project PPJ or featuring on an array of other records, Páula is neither bound by geography or genre, melding elements of baile funk and samba from her native Brazil with techno, electroclash and hyper pop.
Alongside her most frequent collaborators Povoa and Jerge, the Franco-Brasileira has lit up stages around the world in recent years, from Berghain (Berlin), Rex Club (Paris) and Razzmatazz (Barcelona) to Heavyhouse (São Paulo).
Her delicate and lilting voice has since been called upon by French household names like Voyou, Yuksek, Moodoid and Zimmer.
It's with PPJ that she can be heard most frequently. Things escalated when the first song they made, Primavera, caught the ears of Moshi Moshi Records; it became a lockdown radio hit and amassed millions of streams. Building on those foundations, the trio travelled to Rio de Janeiro to write and record the EPs Bloco Vol.1 & 2, harnessing the energy of Carnival on tracks such as Dropi Dropa, a favourite for prominent European selectors HAAi, Chloé Caillet, Busy P and Panorama Bar resident Cormac. More recently, she flew to Norway to provide backing vocals for Mercury-nominated English alternative indie band Sports Team.
Lyrically, Páula dances between Portuguese, French and English as readily as she jumps from one side of the stage to another. Case in point: a recent Bercy concert supporting Justice in front of 16,000 people.
