'Pav' - is a one man solo project of Russian guitarist, singer and composer Pavel Popov, known for his flawless technique and catchy rock phrasing.
During fall of 2020 Pav presents his debut long-play album "Behind The Black Stripe", 100% self-produced in a home studio setup, mixed and mastered by Kirill Konyaev.
The album consists of 9 songs in a style of modern hard-rock with numerous references to 80-s and 90-s hard-rock and early 00-s progressive rock. It also features Evgeniy Kolchin from bands <a href="spotify:artist:7lLzILjnDhZhlGpl4uWmKt" data-name="Маврин">Маврин</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3ZfwDntN8kvNbwhXlpqJqQ" data-name="Hardballs">Hardballs</a> as a guest vocalist on a track "За чёрной полосой", which is a straight translation of the album title to Russian language.
The main attitude of "Behind The Black Stripe" album is the personal emotional experiences of the musician and their successful overcoming, as the final track “Arrival” states. A languid but powerful beginning, with songs, such as ”Stone Cold City“ and ”New Reality", smoothly brings the listener to a certain catharsis feel and release from the black stripe. The title track of the album "Behind The Black Stripe” is not accidentally performed in the native Russian language, because it is mother tongue that can translate all the whirlwind of emotions and thoughts, that have been embedded in lyrics.
