Originating from the depths of the murky waters along the southwestern shores of Finland, Pelagos emits a haunting melody that resonates with a uniquely Finnish post-industrial minimalism, echoing the repetitive urban landscape. Yet, intertwined within their music is a profound sense of romanticism and a longing for distant shores, reminiscent of Balearic exotica.
Describing Pelagos' artistic expression as akin to beach music from a ghost town, where gentle sea breezes transform into fierce gusts, and Soviet brutalist structures replace palm trees as the backdrop, while the sun sets ominously.
Despite the somber ambiance of their coastal hometown, Pori, Pelagos remains steadfast in their pursuit of celestial aspirations. Their debut album, "Revolve," surfaced in 2018, followed by the 2020 compilation album, "Liquid Cathedral," featuring earlier compositions from 2015-2017, alongside the unreleased track "Liquid" from the "Revolve" sessions.
In 2021, they unveiled their sophomore album, "The Boat," a musical amalgamation influenced by a diverse array of styles and epochs. Drawing from soft-reggae, AOR, dream-pop, and trance-rock, among others, the album concocted a rich blend accentuated by psychedelic nuances.
