Marlon hailing from California & Brian from Iowa, individual songwriters, started collaborating musically circa 2015 in Dubuque, IA via DIY song recording projects. Challenges led to only occasional recording sessions over several years that were ultimately unreleased to the public. However, these sessions led to a collection of songs that the two honed in preparation for a live performance. The Duo played a show in summer’ 2020 of 9 original songs to a small receptive crowd. Later that October, Pet Volcano released their first song to streaming, a song written that month, a throwback doo wap bop called “The Zombie Twist”, racing to put it out just before Halloween. The duo enlisted others, including members of Marlon’s band Boogie Monster, to record and perform on the song. One of these players, Jeff Weydert, laid down bass on the track and provided valuable creative input on song structure. After the release, Pet Volcano again went semi-dormant for several years, occasionally meeting to work on new songs. Songwriting continues as the band has more than doubled their song list and has grown into a trio with the multi-band vet Jeff Weydert, (b. Wisconsin). The trio played their first show together in May of 2024 and have released a couple more songs since the zombie twist, with more genre-blending; Americana, Grunge, pop, punk, Rock and Roll, music to come.
