Peter Westheimer

One of Australia's most innovative and enduring composer/musician/producers, Peter Westheimer has released diverse contemporary original music, through various labels but mainly independently, also composing music for two feature films and 20 nationally televised documentaries. Highlighting music as an agent of change and joy he often brings in other musicians and producers. He showcased his 6th and most highly produced album, Tranzworld Express live at Splendour in the Grass international music festival in 2012. A violinist in the Australian Youth Orchestra in his teens and by the late 1970's also an actor/producer/musician for community and avant- grade theatre, by the early 80's he was in a Melbourne based New Wave band on keyboards, electric guitar and singer/songwriter segueing into self producing and recording quirky dance electronica, world and ambient music. In 1982 his seminal synth pop EP Laminex Lovers received extensive airplay and in 1985
the videoclip to his Move album was acclaimed as one of the ten best Australian clips of the year and his coproduced video clip Change Now won best Australian independent music video of 2012 and Dancing Hearts Orchestra was voted a top ten Australian instrumental. In 2017 Left Ear record label released Cool Change a retrospective compilation album on streaming and vinyl .Recent single releases are Iguazu, Take me to your Future and I Know you Like it. He maintains involvement in music, politics and environmental repair.
