After departing from Enigma recording artist ‘Guardian’ in 1990, Paul Cawley began developing a new band ‘Renaissance’. Shortly after after a demo was recorded with Kai Reiss and George Mejia, Kai decided not to stay on. Michael Jones was recruited to fill Kai’s shoes, but after a couple months of rehearsals the rhythm section parted ways.
Paul and Michael created a new project merging their creative ideas and catalog of existing songwriting. The new band was called ‘Phantom Generation’ after Gene Provencio (drums) and Karry Dayton (bass) were brought on as the new rhythm section. Showcases in local venues soon followed.
In December of 1993 the recording of their first studio album commenced. Though the recording consisted of 12-tracks, 6 of the 12 songs were chosen to release as the ‘Renaissance’ EP. After local touring to promote the new release, Karry Dayton cited personal differences and left the band completely by Spring of '94.
John Quigley filled Karry’s vacancy. Within weeks the new lineup was playing shows again and recorded a demo of new material along with reworked songs from the Renaissance album. With interest peaking, 1994 ended with another studio recording that became ‘Your Karma Ran Over My Dogma’.
With several members enduring extensive personal issues, the band went on hiatus in early 1996.
In 2017 the studio recordings were remixed and mastered for digital release as full length albums including demo tracks and additional content.
