Named after a turn-of-the-19th-century French painter, Pharaon de Winter is a mostly French-language indie pop project led by Maxime Chamoux, formerly of Toy Fight and (Please) Don't Blame Mexico. Claiming influences from Continental pop of the '70s and '80s as much as the English-language indie traditions of Chamoux's prior bands, Pharaon de Winter released their debut EP, Pointillism, in mid-2015. It was quickly followed by their eponymous synth pop full-length that December. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
