Phat Man Dee (she/they) is an accomplished jazz singer, music producer, and music educator with a diverse range of talents. With a cosmic cabaret approach, she captivates audiences as a jazz vocalist, bandleader, and songwriter. Her latest album, "A Thousand Miles," showcases stunning collaborations with Pittsburgh's finest jazz artists and fresh big band arrangements. The transformative experience takes listeners on a musical journey through original compositions such as "Virgil and Kae," "Bigger Smile," "Easy to Say," "Groovelight," and the title track "A Thousand Miles," along with creative interpretations of classics such as "Moanin'," "Footprints," "Jeannine," and "Everything Must Change."
As a jazz provocateur, Phat Man Dee performs original compositions and standards in multiple language. She has deeply connected with audiences worldwide and was voted the #1 Best Local Jazz Act in the Best of Pittsburgh City Paper Reader's Poll of 2022. Beyond her artistry, Phat Man Dee is dedicated to music education, coaching at the We Rock Workshop for at-risk and foster youth. She also teaches private students in her home studio and is an active faculty alumni of Afro American Music Institute. Additionally, she serves as co-chair on the DE&I Committee of the Songwriters of North America and holds positions on the board of directors of the Rosencomet Project and Starwood Festival.
