One of the most distinctive voices in contemporary accordion, Pietro Roffi moves between the concert hall, cinema and his own atmospheric, borderless sound worlds. As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed hundreds of concerts across five continents – from Brazil and China to Australia and South Africa – moving between classical repertoire, tango, and his own compositions. In 2018 he made his debut as a soloist with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, performing a new work written for him by Academy Award–winning composer Dario Marianelli for Ennio Morricone’s 90th birthday. His first album of original music, 1999, received the Orpheus Award for “Best Italian Accordion Album”, and his partnership with Marianelli has taken him into film, including Matteo Garrone’s Pinocchio, nominated for the David di Donatello. In 2026 Roffi releases "Oltrepassare" (Extended Place / Blue Mirror), an album for accordion, strings, piano and electronics exploring movement, memory and belonging. His music is regularly broadcast by BBC Radio 3, WDR 3, Radio France and Rai Radio 3, and heard in venues such as the Concertgebouw, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Munich Philharmonie, Sala São Paulo and the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall, in his own performances and in those of leading interpreters such as accordionist Ksenija Sidorova. Alongside his work on stage and in the studio, he is a committed mentor to a new generation of accordionists.
