It was the new millennium. The music industry was crumbling and a new wave of indie rock was filtering through the cracks left behind. Started as an acoustic based duo, John Meeks (Bull & Train) and Scott Kennerly (Buck-O-Nine) quickly added friends Jeff Hawthorne (Blackout Party) on drums and Mary Forrest on violin. This first lineup resulted in the lo-fi, home recorded "Have a Rad Summer". It was mix of pop, indie rock, alt country, and even a bit of exotica thrown in. Soon after, they added Jason Holford on bass and started forming what was to be the new Plural sound and defining themselves as one of the innovators of the burgeoning San Diego indie rock scene. Their next release, "I Feel Beautiful" solidified their sound and songwriting abilities. The weaving harmonies and intertwined guitars became the staple of what made Plural a refreshing live show at the world famous Casbah. 2006 brought their most complete album to date, "Love Sleeps Where Love Lies". Continuing their blend of interesting harmonies, dense guitars, and dynamic rhythms, the album was nominated for "Best Local Recording" at the 2006 San Diego Music Awards. A fourth record "From Nothing, To No One" was completed in 2008 but has not been released. While not officially broken up, the band is currently on an extended hiatus.
