Rotterdam based producers collective Pompenburg has been around for some time now. Frontman Mark van Dale founded the collective a couple of years ago. Why was that? Mark: “I wanted to get away from prejudice. After my ‘Waterwave’ success in the late nineties, a lot of people labeled me as a commercial DJ. Nothing wrong with being a commercial DJ, but I also needed room to expand my true passion: techy, more underground stuff. First in my DJ sets as ‘Pompenburg’, but now I also feel like making music again.”
Why Pompenburg? Mark: “It is named after an area in my hometown Rotterdam, basically the place where I grew up as a kid. It had a nice ring to it and when I needed a moniker for my tech act, I thought: this is it.”
Pompenburg is ready to roll. In 2018, the first OFFICIAL Pompenburg release came out on Combined Music.
