Inspired by the 1970’s instrumental groups such as Azymuth andPassport, among others, Pompeø delivers the flavours of that era, withspices of this century’s electronic toppings.
Backed by some of the finest Brazilian musicians as Alex Malheiros ( Azymuth ) on bass, legendary brazilian percussionist Sidinho Moreira ( Marcos Valle ),
Alex Fonseca ( Celso Fonseca ) on drums, and new generation solo artist Rodrigo Sha on sax and flutes, he launchesSambatronic, a powerful groove drived by Malheiro’s bass,
filled withboth acoustic and electronic percussionism, a classic Rhodes piano andvintage synth themes combined with Sha’s saxes and flutes,
and asusrprising ocasional vocal chorus. But far from virtuosistic mimics, it relies on the evolving atmosphere ofpure joy that transport us directly to the age of Jazz-Rock fusion of Eumir Deodato
and early Return To Forever with Ayrto Moreira and Flora Purim. So let’s hear it to believe it, enjoy Pompeø and his Sambatronic.
