Pop-Up is the a cappella vocal ensemble of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. Its repertoire includes vocal arrangements of pop songs, jazz standards, gospel and songwriter titles, and its members come from the schools music, conducting, singing, Tonmeister and music education courses. The ensemble enjoys rhythm, vocal soundscapes and colourful harmonisation, and focuses on exciting arrangements, achieving a homogenous sound, and the pleasure of making music together. Pop-Up was founded in 2010 by its conductor, Anne Kohler, and won the Volksbank-Paderborn-Höxter-Detmold young artists prize in 2012. It took part in Voc.Cologne and the Aarhus Vocal Festival in 2013, and was the backing choir for the Rolling Stones at Düsseldorf’s ESPRIT Arena in June 2014, with an audience of 50,000.
