Popstar Benny is the sound of new weird Atlanta. After the release of his 2023 album University! (featuring the likes of Tony Shhnow, Bear1Boss, Duwap Kaine, DavidTheTragic, Moh Baretta, and more), Benny has since gone on to produce for artists like Rod Wave, Kevin Abstract, Destroy Lonely, Sideshow, Hardrock, and so on. Nowadays, Benny splits his time between LA and Atlanta. He cooks up to a hundred beats in a day, takes care of his NTS Radio residency, DJs club nights from west to east coasts, and sends beat packs to your favorite rappers around Atlanta and the country – including (and especially) all the girls.
The new Popstar Benny-produced and curated album Oasis holds an all-female cast of rappers and vocalists from his city of Atlanta, including Coco & Clair Clair, SadBoi, Vayda, and more. Recorded almost entirely within the span of one week from inside of a treehouse Airbnb before being mixed by Alex Tumay, Oasis is an extravagant peek into what Benny calls “the female Renaissance happening right now in Atlanta.”
