POSY is the recording name of Rudy Klobas, Portland-based producer and multi-instrumentalist with a unique sound that blends elements of jazz, R&B, and electronic music.
In 2021, POSY released the ‘Abroad EP,’ marking his debut as an artist. The EP was inspired by a period of time spent traveling Japan in early 2019. Throughout the course of the month-long trip, Rudy carried around a portable recorder, capturing various sounds that caught his ear. That collection of found sounds eventually became the foundation for the EP, each track utilizing a variety of field recordings to create a unique blend of organic and electronic textures.
His debut album, 'The Garden,' further explores the fusion of lo-fi, contemporary jazz, and hip-hop found in previous releases. Seeking a fresh approach to songwriting after an extended period of writer’s block, he leaned heavily on the acoustic guitar to record many of the early demos. Over time, these demos evolved into the richly layered tracks on the album. Incorporating field recordings captured while hiking and camping around the Pacific Northwest, 'The Garden' evokes a strong connection to nature, blending organic sounds with POSY's signature production style.
