This US glam-metal rock band was formed in Los Angeles, California, in the mid-80s. They came to the public’s attention via their 1985 debut, Right Here, Right Now, which was produced by AOR producer and guitar-hero Paul Sabu. An all-female outfit, they featured Leslie Wasser (vocals), Janet Robin (guitar), Mara Fox (guitar), Alex Rylance (bass) and Carol Control (drums). Unfairly categorized alongside 70s female outfit the Runaways, Precious Metal set about forging an original style. They were hampered in this by the inability of the hard rock press to engage critically with female bands above and beyond obvious comparisons and cosmetic factors. Their second and third album releases demonstrated that, at the very least, there was more potential at work than they were being given credit for.
