Pretendians

* Pretendians Band is set to release their highly anticipated 2nd album in Summer of 2023. *

Pretendians Band is a Native American rock band based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Despite the name of the band, they’re not pretending anything. The majority of the band represent the Oceti Ŝakowiŋ (7 Council Fires) of the Dakhota/Lakhota Nation, hailing from the Standing Rock, Rosebud and Crow Creek tribes.

Formed in 2014, Pretendians Band crafted their dynamic, energy-fueled brand of conscious rock music by joining lyrics of a heavy societal and indigenous-centric message with dynamic music, drawing from all forms of rock and roll.

"As a Native American band, we speak out against the appropriation of our culture, of our history, of our image. Our lyrics speak to that, and it becomes clear that we are against non-genuine images of our culture.

We’re here because we are living our truth as Indigenous people based on our life experiences and by telling our own stories, which may not fit into the common ignorant narrative put forth by people who may not want the truth; those same people who tried to exterminate us."
