Poet, singer, filmmaker, painter and cat lover.
Princess reveals the world as reflected by the multiple facets of the prism of her inner world.
In the mid-80’s, she decided to transform her poetry into music that ranged from dreamy, melancholic soundscapes to dark, cutting, satirical social commentary.
In 1986 she and Jean Mineau, her then boyfriend, were working on what was to be her first EP when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and hospitalized.
Against the doctors’advice, Jean left the hospital to record the demos of the five songs:
‘Distant Voices’, ‘New York Grief’, ‘Sometimes You’re a Stranger’, ‘Whipping Cream’ and ‘Why'. Immediately after recording the demos, Jean returned to the hospital, where he died shortly after.
Princess went on to collaborate with Eric Shamash, an underground electronic synth player, and in 1988 recorded ‘The Dance Rats’, ‘Me C 3D’ and ‘Office Space’; three satirical tales that reveal cracks in our social system.
Princess recorded a new version of New York Grief in 1989 and directed and produced its music video in 1990.
Indie label Seance Centre released ‘New York Grief ’86’ and ‘New York Grief’ in January 2021. A compilation of Princess’ songs from 1986-1991 was released in November 2024.
Princess is presently completing work for an LP of her new music that should be released in 2026.
