Formed in Olympia, Washington by vocalist/artist/dancer Mary Jane Dunphe (of the energetic punk group Vexx) and bassist/producer David Jacques, CC Dust combine the danceable punk energy of DFA Records artists, the swooping drama of vintage 4AD bands, and lots of melodic New Order-style basslines. Topped off with the sometimes growling, sometimes angelic vocals of Dunphe, the duo has a sound that's firmly grounded in the past, but given a modern recasting. They appeared on the It Gets Weirder: A Compilation of Olympia Punk in 2015 cassette with the song "Abra," then released their debut single, "Shinkansen No. 1"/"New Ways," on Mystery?Club in August of 2016. They followed that up with a self-titled five-song EP co-released a month later by Perennial in the U.S. and Night School in the U.K. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
