Hailing from Berlin, Profane Sanctum writes their music around societal issues and forces awareness towards humanity's inequality and injustices. Founded by in February 2015 by a group of strangers who met over the internet but connected through music, they started out mostly playing live shows. Having gained stage experience and friendship between them, Profane Sanctum released their first EP in 2018. Their EP, Doomsday, consisted of groovy and melodic death metal, with lyrics critical of society. After a switch in lead guitar from Alex to Cedric, Profane Sanctum matured their sound and recorded and released their first full-length album, Voice of the Oppressed, in 2019. The album has influences ranging from viking metal to trash metal, drawing from In Flames to more modern metal/deathcore bands. Heavy, groovy, and catchy riffs as well as melodic, thrashy, and progressive parts which are supported by crushing drums and aggressive growls converge to create their unique sound. Vocalist Harshit left after the album's release and was replaced by Andy, opening up a new chapter in the continuing story of Profane Sanctum. Some time thereafter, Cedric was replaced by Matze. Shortly thereafter, Profane Sanctum set the stage on fire yet again. We are both excited and ambitious to see what the future holds for all of us!
